PRESS RELEASE

The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (former University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest), as coordinator, in partnership with the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest (Romania), the Technical University of Lodz (Poland) and five universities of the Republic of Moldova ("Alecu Russo" State University of Balti, the State University of Moldova, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the Technical University of Moldova, the State University "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu" of Cahul) have implemented between January 2023- December 2025, the project "Skills4future" – ²Developing and improving the STEAM skills of students and teachers for curriculum innovation and sustainable development of higher education institutions and local businesses².

The project addressed partner universities in the Republic of Moldova and implemented a series of activities that supported innovation and the modernization of higher education, with a focus on the integration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills in the fields of Business and Administration. Entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and innovation were targeted, along with the development of critical thinking for solving complex problems generated by the pursuit of sustainable development, encompassing economic, social, and environmental protection aspects. Cooperation mechanisms with the local socio-economic environment were implemented through the active involvement of local businesses, professional associations, civil society, and governmental entities. These mechanisms supported the improvement of education quality and contributed to a better alignment with local needs for STEAM skills driven by technological progress, economic efficiency, social inclusion, and environmental responsibility, for both students and teaching staff.

Through the promotion and dissemination activities, the project made a meaningful contribution to strengthening the capacities of the partner universities in the Republic of Moldova to design, implement, and further develop modern learning programmes, adapted to local STEAM skills needs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and aligned with European-level good practices.
