Procedure in case of acceptance of proposed doctoral dissertations
– before 30 April 2019.
Doctoral dissertations initiated and not completed before the date of entry into force of the Act (i.e. before 1 October 2018) will be carried out according to the existing rules pursuant to Article 179(1) of the Act of 3 July 2018. Provisions introducing the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1669 as amended). Thus, the provisions of the Act of 14 March 2003 on Academic Degrees and Academic Title and Degrees and Title in Art (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 1789), including executive acts to this Act, will fully apply to doctoral dissertations instituted by 30 April 2019. Note: Doctoral dissertations not completed by 31 December 2021 will be discontinued or closed accordingly (COVID-19-related legislation prolongs the deadline to 31 December 2022).
