The Interdisciplinary HEI Entrepreneurship Fostering Program (InterHEI)

nagłówek_projekt

TUL is happy to announce that it will be taking part in a new project called The Interdisciplinary HEI Entrepreneurship Fostering Program. The project aims to  tackle the aforementioned challenges by leveraging the existing innovation and entrepreneurial knowledge of all the partners and by drawing on the resources of HEInnovate to boost the sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship of the higher education sector across Europe. Consequently, this will boost sustainable economic growth and competitiveness in the EU. (https://eit-hei.eu/projects/interhei/)

The project will receive funding from the EIT HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education. This initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) aims to boost the entrepreneurial and innovation capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) across Europe.

As part of this project, we will be working together with the following partners:

  • University of Warsaw Poland – project lead
  • Marmara University Turkey
  • Loyola University Spain
  • American Farm School Post-Secondary Education and Training Association Greece
  • Future Food Institute Italy
  • Institute for Food Technology Serbia
  • Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Turkey

Under the EIT HEI Initiative, the project will receive funding of € 300,000, and it will run until December 2022, with the possibility of getting extended for 18 more months.

Stay tuned for more information about this project in the coming months!

About the EIT HEI Initiative

The EIT HEI Initiative is a key objective for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology as part of its new strategy. The initiative aims to support HEIs with expertise and coaching, access to the EIT innovation ecosystem, the largest in Europe,  and funding, enabling them to develop innovation action plans complementing the needs of individual HEIs. This is the EIT HEI Initiative’s second call for proposals, following the success of the 2021 Pilot Call. So far, the initiative has provided funding to nearly 50 projects. The next call for proposals is expected towards the end of 2022.

About the EIT

The EIT strengthens Europe’s ability to innovate by powering solutions to pressing global challenges and by nurturing entrepreneurial talent to create sustainable growth and skilled jobs in Europe. The EIT is an EU body and an integral part of Horizon Europe, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The Institute supports dynamic pan-European partnerships, EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities, among leading companies, research labs and universities.

HEInnovate Train the Trainers sessions

We are happy to announce that we will hold two training sessions this autumn to provide information and advice on how to make the most of HEInnovate.

The sessions are aimed at participants who are interested in learning how to use HEInnovate in their organisation and with their partners. Prior knowledge of HEInnovate is preferable for the training participants, but not necessary.

This training is based on the HEInnovate training manual and it is designed for staff from higher education institutions. The main focus of the session will be to equip participants with information, tools and techniques to help maximise the use of HEInnovate in practice. By the end of the training session, participants will:

  • Understand the role HEInnovate can play in developing their institutions’ innovative and entrepreneurial potential
  • Be confident to carry out their own HEInnovate assessments in group supported by group discussions and workshops
  • Be aware of the variety of supporting materials and initiatives available and understand how to make the most of them

The training sessions are run by experienced HEInnovate facilitators and offer the possibility of international networking with like-minded people, who are interested in advancing their institution’s innovative and entrepreneurial nature.

We will run the training twice in different formats to offer the opportunity to participate either in person or online (for selected participants only due to the limited number of places we have available). Both training sessions will cover the same content, therefore please only register your interest in participating in one of the sessions:

  • A face-to-face training session, taking place in Brussels on 5th-6th October 2023 (afternoon of the 5th and morning of the 6th). Travel and accommodation will be arranged for the selected participants from Europe
  • An online interactive 1-day training session, taking place on Zoom on the 10th November 2023 between 9-16 CET

Participation is free in the training sessions, but it requires registration as we have limited places available. Please register your interest in participating at the link below:
https://www.research.net/r/HEInnovate_training2023

The deadline for registration is the 11th September 2023. Selected applicants will be contacted with further information on arrangements.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our trainings!

Visit to the Center for Nanotechnology and Biomaterials Applications and Research at Marmara University (NBUAM - Marmara Üniversitesi Nanoteknoloji ve Biyomalzemeler Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi)

On September 25-29, 2023, within the framework of the international project Interdisciplinary University Entrepreneurship Support Program (InterHEI), representatives of the project team from the Department of Organization and Management: Iwona Staniec and Agnieszka Pietras visited the Center for Nanotechnology and Biomaterials Applications and Research at Marmara University (NBUAM - Marmara Üniversitesi Nanoteknoloji ve Biyomalzemeler Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi). The visit was aimed at identifying opportunities for commercialization of scientific and research infrastructure. The coordinator of the InterHEI project on the part of Marmara University, Sema Gündüz, presented the research infrastructure that participated in the RIC Academy conducted by the PLU team . During the visit, Professor Oguzhan Gunduz - Coordinator of the Office of Research, presented the latest work and achievements that researchers at the NBUAM Center are working on. He introduced the organization of the NBUAM Center, the way it is managed, the incentives used for employees and the approach to commercialization. Professor Canan Dogan talked about her research and experience in commercialization. The center's infrastructure and the research conducted there were observed with great interest. Opportunities for further cooperation were jointly assessed. During the meetings, they discussed how to support scientists, doctoral students in promoting and commercializing the results of their research, but also how to approach the commercialization of the infrastructure potential that the University has in the context of local conditions. The visit showed that it is worth sharing knowledge and learning from the good practices of partners. The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, which promises to implement further projects on the basis of the results already developed. Professor Oguzhan Gunduz invited us to explore new possibilities in the use of VR in the educational process.
